1 The Client
Client is The Northeast Kentucky Regional Health Information Organization (KRHIO) , a non profit based in Kentucky. Their focus on solving problems related to rural health IT.
2 The Challenge
Opioid addiction has become a big health issue, especially in rural America. KRHIO received a 3-year grant from HRSA. This project focuses on strengthening and expanding prevention, treatment and long-term recovery centered around substance use disorders in rural Kentucky communities. Organization desired a mobile directory app for users to find assistive resources by the Kentucky county and the type of resource. KRHIO did not have expertise to build mobile apps, they looked for companies who have built apps for non-profit and found Simpalm. Simpalm is one of the top android app development company in the USA and we took the challenge to build the solution in the limited budget of the grant.
3 The Solution
We built mobile app and backend Admin
Client provided us high level requirements for the mobile app and web admin. We did the Discovery and Design phase with them and created the UIUX design for mobile apps and web applications. Admin can enter the directory and resources using a web interface. Mobile apps are connected with the same database using APis and all the directory data is displayed in the mobile apps. We first did the UI coding of mobile apps on iOS and Android, and web admin in HTML. Once we coded the frontend, we did the database and API in the AWS environment and integrated the functionality of the app with the backend. Whole project was completed in 5 months. We published the apps on the app store and deployed the Admin in the AWS-EC2 environment.
