The Client.
Cakery LLC is a startup seeking ways to connect people and build communities through shared love of desserts.
The Challenge.
Client sought a platform that would help connecting dessert enthusiasts with bakeries both local and across the country. Needed platforms to support the needs of mobile users that search for these bakeries and business owners that seek greater searchability.
The Solution.
We developed a mobile app and web platform. Businesses can sign up on the web platform to create a business profile, and add details about the business to display to users of the mobile app. Mobile app users can search for businesses that match a variety of search parameters via filtered search. Mobile users can use Cakery to discover and keep track of their favorite bakeries.

Mobile App Features.
Login/Signup/Guest Access.
Users can access the app as a guest to access most of the features.- Users can create an account to easily access all the features, including the ability to save their favorite businesses and searches.
Search for Businesses.
- Search for businesses by zip code or current location.
- Basic keyword search to find businesses and desserts.
- Sort search results by distance or ratings.
- Filtered search of search radius, dessert type, occasion, ethnicity, or dietary concerns.
View Business Page.
- User can view the details page for a business, seeing the address, hours of operation, links to the menu and website, if the business offers nationwide shipping.
- User can view an image gallery of the desserts uploaded by the business admin along with a description of the dessert item.
- User with an account can add a business to their favorites collection.
Collections Tab.
- Users with accounts can use the collections tab to save their favorite business pages and favorite searches.
- Favorite business collection shows a list of all businesses the user favorited for quick access to the business page.
- Favorite searches collection shows the searches saved from advanced search to easily search those parameters again.
Deals.
- Users can view any deals added by the business admins.
- User sees the deal type, expiration, and a link to view the deal.
- User can view deals offered by one business on the business’ page, or a list of all deals offered in the Deals tab.
Ratings.
- Users can add a 1-5 star rating for a business.
- User can view the total ratings for a business.
Web App Features.
Business Profile.
- Business owners can create an account with basic details about the business location.
- Once approved by Super Admin, business admins can complete the business profile.
Business Page.
- Business admins can set up the business page to show to mobile users in the app.
- Users can add the hours of operation, links to the menu or website, dessert categories offered at the location, and upload an image gallery of desserts along with descriptions.
Subscription Model.
- The default model is a Free Plan, but business admins can upgrade to a Paid Plan for better searchability and the ability to add Deals.
- Paid Plan users can revert back to the Free Plan.
Deals.
- Users with a paid plan can add Deals to show to mobile users.
- Users will add the name of the deal, the expiration, and can include a link to the deal.
- Users can edit and delete their deals.
Analytics.
- Business admins can view analytics to show the interaction with their business page in the app.
- Analytics show the amount of mobile user clicks on the URL links from the business page.
- Analytics show the overall star rating for the business.
- Business admin can change the date range for the analytics data.
Super Admin Features.
Business Admin Management.
- Super Admin can view all the details added by a business during sign up.
- Super Admin can manage the status of the business accounts, and can activate or deactivate accounts.
Analytics.
- Super Admin can view the analytics for any business.
- Analytics show the amount of mobile user clicks on the URL links from the business page.
- Analytics show the overall star rating for the business.
- Super Admin can change the date range for the analytics data.
