The Client.
Client is a startup based in Maryland. The client was looking to build a social media sports app that will allow different football team’s fans to create an account and select a football team. Within this application, fans can get connected with other fans across the U.S. through an interactive social media feed where they can post, comment, and compete.
The Challenge.
The client had a vision for a social media sports app that would bring football fans together in one interactive platform. Client had a vision to solve some of these challenges:
1. How to bring fans of rival teams together on one platform before a few days of the game day.
2. How to bring fans of the same team together on one platform around the match.
3. How to capture follower’s thoughts and trends through social media.
They had plenty of ideas but needed a team with experience in building complex social networking applications. From account creation and team selection to interactive feeds, posting, commenting, and fan competitions, the client needed a partner who understood the challenges of designing and developing a feature rich social media platform.
The Solution.
Simpalm partnered with the client to build BANT: a sleek, modern sports app on iOS that connects fans with their rivals through weekly matchup feeds. The app allows users to create accounts, select their favorite NFL or NCAA football teams, and join an interactive community of fans across the states. With features like posting, commenting, and a specialized unique feature for fans across teams to compete, BANT delivers a social media experience tailored specifically for football fans and enthusiasts alike.
The Impact.
- App has seen 1000 downloads in the first month of launch.
- App has seen fans talking about around 20 different matches in the first two months.
- App has seen around 800 posts about football games.
- App has seen around 500 friend requests in the first month of the launch.
Mobile App Features.
BANT is designed to bring football fans together by creating a dedicated social media platform where they can connect, share, and compete. The app offers the following features to showcase its unique experience:
Customer Login.
Users can sign up and set up their profile where they customize their profile with a unique handle, profile photo and a bio. They can also personalize their experience by selecting at least one NFL or NCAA team to follow, with the option to add up to two additional college teams.
Personal Feed.
Users can view a feed that displays all posts pertaining to the team they have followed. This main game feed opens six days before kickoff, allowing fans to post, comment, and engage around upcoming matchups.
Interacting within the Feed.
Users can interact with the feed in a variety of ways. Posting is tied to a user’s favorite teams so fans can only create posts when their NFL or NCAA team is playing, and activity continues for up to a day after the game ends. Users can post, like, and comment on the feed for their upcoming game and interact with fellow fans and rivals alike.
Competing Like Feature.
Users can take part in team competitions through the likes feature, where every post like adds to their team’s total score. A live counter shows which side is gaining more support and the tally continues throughout the week of the matchup. Each game in the season brings a new counter for fans to rally behind their team and compete with the opposing team.
Connect with Fans.
Users can search for other fans across the application where they can follow and connect. Here, users can see their favorite teams and connect with like minded fans.
Get Notified of Upcoming Games.
Users will receive notifications for the app such as new followers, likes, and comments. Users would also be notified of upcoming games and get ready to post when the feed goes live.
Profile Customization.
At any time, users can go visit their profile settings and customize their profile. Here, users can see a quick summary of their profile including their favorite teams and activity within the app. Users can also change the teams they are following but are only allowed to make a change once per season!
